It is 11:59, and a train hurtles down the track, picking up speed. She is full of sleeping passengers and cargo, but the Engineer is dead, or suicidal, or maybe psychotic. A distant rumble marks the destruction of an upcoming bridge, waking some of the passengers, who begin to notice what is happening. How do you stop a speeding train, out of control? You already tried the emergency cable. The porter appears and tells you not to cause trouble, everything is fine, but he is an idiot.
You’ve got to disable the train, or else run it off the track. Maybe you could uncouple the cars somehow, or even climb up on the roof and try to reach the locomotive. Alternatively, you could jump off and let it crash. Some passengers are insisting a team of commandos will parachute onto the locomotive and slow it down safely, but waiting on that possibility would be crazy. Even if you wake everyone, chances are 97% of them will just pretend it is not happening. Time is running out, what will you do?
