RIP ANON A MOOS/BRIAN

Another of our best commenters – anon a moos – has passed away. He provided the site with daily doses of wisdom and humor. We’ve lost too many TBP family members over the years. My prayers are with Brian, his wife Laurel, and his family. Below is Brian’s obituary, sent by Laurel.

Tribute for Brian Pinske

We rejoice with great sorrow and grieve with great rejoicing to announce that on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, our husband, father, Papa, son, brother, and uncle, Brian Duane Pinske, quietly left this life and went to be with Jesus Christ his Lord. He was pre-deceased by his three pre-born children, his maternal grandmother Lillian Willis, his father John Pinske, and his baby sister Tracy Thompson.

Brian leaves behind his wife, Laurel; children, Heather (Michael), Rebecca (Donny), and Michael (Virginia); grandchildren, Taelynn, Lee, Koston, and Milla; his mother, Bernice (Bob); his siblings, Bob (Lia), Connie, Tammy (Michel), and Lori; nieces and nephews, Dana, Corrie, Amanda, Lindy, Jonathon, Melanie, Kimberly, Bryenna, Haley, and Tayler; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and their children, and cousins galore.

He was born on September 1, 1957, to John and Bernice Pinske in Lloydminister, SK, the third of six children. The family moved to Oliver when he was 10 and after leaving home, he spent time in Vancouver and Houston, BC. Brian and Laurel married in 1980 and lived in Prince George, Oliver, Malta, North Vancouver, Mexico, and finally Osoyoos.

A memorial service will be held for Brian on Saturday, June 22 at 1pm at New Beginnings Church, 101 – 96 Edmonton Ave, Penticton, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Burning Platform (theburningplatform.com) or Choice for Two (choice42.com/donate)

Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com

His journey is over.

Eulogy from Solomon

So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them. All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad,[a] the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.
As it is with the good,
    so with the sinful;
as it is with those who take oaths,
    so with those who are afraid to take them.
This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. Anyone who is among the living has hope[b]—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

For the living know that they will die,
    but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
    and even their name is forgotten.

Their love, their hate
    and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
    in anything that happens under the sun.
Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do. Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
11 I have seen something else under the sun:

The race is not to the swift
    or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
    or wealth to the brilliant
    or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.
12 Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:

As fish are caught in a cruel net,
    or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
    that fall unexpectedly upon them.
Wisdom Better Than Folly13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. 15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.
17
The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded
    than the shouts of a ruler of fools.
18
Wisdom is better than weapons of war,
    but one sinner destroys much good.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJB… “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

“Now we request you, brothers, to show respect for those who are working hard among you and presiding over you in the Lord and admonishing you; and to give them extraordinary consideration in love because of their work. Be peaceable with one another. On the other hand, we urge you, brothers, to warn the disorderly, speak consolingly to those who are depressed, support the weak, be patient toward all. See that no one repays injury for injury to anyone, but always pursue what is good toward one another and to all others.” [1 Thessalonians 5: 12-15]

RIP Mosse – may you rest in peace.

““Don’t grieve for us. We’re the lucky ones. We’ve never been so happy as we are now.” These were messages from the invisible, received during World War II. Yet they were not sorrowful messages, but seemingly messages to drive away grief and give comfort.

From whom did such strange messages come? From men who died in the service of their country during that war! So averred the receiver of the messages in 1943, the retired Air Chief Marshal of Great Britain, Lord Dowding. He was wanting to spread good cheer to those who had lost friends and relatives in battle and to those who might yet die before the world conflict ended.

Said he: “I have the largest number of messages from men who have passed over in this war. The fact I want to stress is that the tone of these messages is ‘We are O.K.’ and ‘Don’t grieve for us. We’re the lucky ones. We’ve never been so happy as we are now.’” Lord Dowding continued: “There is a great organisation of Air Force men on the other side and I receive frequent messages from them.”

He was thus reaffirming his belief in spiritualism by reading before a public audience in London a letter he believed was dictated by a dead seaman. The report of this was received from London, September 1, 1943, by cable to the New York Times and published in its columns the following day, under the heading: “Dowding Says Dead Send Him Messages.” Doubtless in the minds of many readers the questions were raised: Are those who die in war the lucky ones? Are we who survive the unlucky ones?

Who knows?

I love the mention of his pre-born children dying before him, because children they were, not just clumps of cells.

May they all continue their spiritual journey together.

I hope that we can all have a TBP get together in heaven some day, of all the people that only met on a screen but were never able to shake hands.

Thank you for noticing that. <3 I thought it was important. At the time we grieved but no one considered there should be a funeral or anything for a miscarriage…. I no longer believe that and think the church should treat miscarriages as children just like they do for those who passed through the birth canal alive. God bless! 🙂
