I’ve lived in FL most of my 74 years. As a kid, it was HOT. Now it is HOT. At least we have A/C now, but those units pump a LOT of heat into the air and there are a lot of those units now and growing exponentially. As far as humidity, they don’t report that anymore….they only tell you at what temperature dew might form.

If my memory of thermodynamics still holds (maybe, maybe not as I drank a lot for the 4th) then the coefficient of performance of most AC units is around 3 or so. That would mean you are removing 3 watts of heat from your house for every 1 watt of electricity put in. That extra 1 watt of also goes out into surroundings as waste heat which is about 25% of the total. Not huge, but not trivial either particularly in a poplulation dense area.
As a 5th generation Florida native……. it’s utter BS. Hurricanes have been much worse in the past and the timing and impact areas are pretty consistent when you account for other prevailing weather cycles and the sunspots…..In general early season hurricanes follow the track Beryl is on……they bounce across the bottom of the Caribbean and then hit the Belize/Mexico area or turn slightly north (if there is a high pressure system) and sometimes get as far as TX. Throughout the season the hurricanes tend to turn more northerly hitting the Middle Gulf (Think Katrina) and at the end of the season often bounce along the east coast of Florida and then smack the Carolinas and occasionally get to NYC (Sandy). Are there exceptions of course depending on weather systems (high pressure usually) that the Hurricanes get pushed around to unusual impact areas. Eg Ian in SW Florida. With modern technology the storms can be tracked in minute detail and the damage broadcast far and wide and with more people in Florida and the south in general the number of people affected has gone up a lot……..but that doesn’t mean its Govt engineering to punish conservatives……..much as they would like to! SOTN never provides any evidence of their claims…….but the gullible believe what they want to hear.

The analog weather gauges I and my next door neighbor have showed that 2020 was hotter on the traditional scale of plain tenp thermometer readings.
Humidity is a completely different story with how it “feels.”

They would last less than a minute and dissipate into… nothing. I still remember when I was about 8 years old asking my Air Force father who was a radar operator for NORAD what those small tails were behind those airplanes and him explaining it to me.

I’ve lived here in Florida since 1980, in the Panhandle, in Tampa, and now near the Kennedy Space Center. I can tell you from personal experience 2024, right now, it’s hotter and more humid than ever! We’re dying here! We get a little sea breeze here which helps a little, but inland, toward Orlando, it’s worse. Our normal June rainfall was also stunted. I feel bad for all the folks that went out and bought black vehicles… black cars or clothing isn’t a good color choice here in Florida.
