As a lifelong Catholic (62yrs) I can tell you I don’t know a single member of The Catholic Church who worships statues. You are misinformed and being silly.
Those are members of our family and reminders, just like you have pictures on your walls at home of your Mom and Dad, brothers, sisters, Grandparents, etc.
I’m wondering, do you you object to statues of Robert E Lee or George Washington or maybe your parents pictures because you are tempted to worship them??
Yeh but I don’t pray to my family pictures to intercede for me with God. Jesus does that for me with the Father. So, yeh, you kinda do do idolatry, eg praying to Mary. Never too late to repent. I know I’m not perfect so no condemnation, just a gentle push back.
Catholics know that those who sleep in Christ are more alive than you and I as they are in His presence. God is the God of the living, not the dead. I ask friends and family to pray for me all the time here on earth as do most Christians and the prayers of a righteous man a much. I also ask those already heaven to pray for me. Revelation makes it very clear they are aware of what is occurring here on earth.
I don’t ‘do idolatry’ as that would be worship of a false god. Catholics do not worship Mary. When we ‘pray’ to saints, it is an olde english usage of the word, such as, Pray tell me, Aussie, do you understand the difference?
I do have many things to repent of, daily, but idolatry is not on the list.
I hope to one day be in His Presence and hope to meet you there.
