I live at the border of NY state. I shop at a family store there. In the beginning of the mask madness I walked into the store, bare faced, of course. The owner explained that their (mauling bastard) governor Andrew Cuomo issued a $10k fine for any store who didn’t mandate masks. So, not wanting to hurt these fine people the next time I entered I put on a mask. As I was checking out he thanked me for wearing a mask. I said nothing but stuck my tongue out thru a slit I cut in the mask. He doubled over with laughter.
Lesson received:
The smaller and more local, the better.
My local Big Chain store made allowances for people medically unable to wear the mask. My local mom&pops were bastards. They didn’t care if I suffocated to death. They were even worse about the “vax”. One local mom & pop even hired a big black security guard to demand your “vax” papers as soon as you stepped on their porch. Most of them are out of business now.
Cuomo said people who were unable medically to wear the mask were exempt. Funny how businesses just ignored that and bullied people out of their stores.
This is what happens when a society is purposefully not educated in even the most basic of science.
Anyone who stood on a floor decal, followed arrows at the store, wore a mask (willingly), stood 6 feet apart, or any other damn thing EXCEPT hand washing and not touching their faces/noses/eyes are no better than people who practiced bloodletting and witch trials.
It is exactly the same mindset of utter ignorance and blind fear despite the very visible evidence to the contrary.
I knew zero people who died from covid but I knew very obese people who got very sick and then went into the hospital, got remdesivir and croaked.
Now, the obits are filled with 20-50 year Olds dropping dead with “no cause of death revealed”.

I swim daily and one day this older woman decided she was going to wear a mask while swimming. I asked her how many germs would live through the chlorine in the pool at atmosphere around the pool? I try an avoid interacting with anyone who shows signs of sketchy phizz, period. If I absolutely must, I try not to make eye contact or say anything other than one word responses if they ask a question.
It reduces negative interaction down to the .01% range, it saves me the emotional connection to someone who isn’t on my page anyway, and it lets them know, if only on a subconscious level, that they’re not dealing with a compatriot.
I’m not saying that it’s a perfect way of determining who the useful idiots are, but it’s Hall of Fame worthy, percentage wise.
