“Hearts and minds” became a cliché during the Vietnam War. Somebody noticed that many of the Vietnamese had no particular enthusiasm for either the War for Freedom, Democracy, and Domino Prevention or its American sponsors. Thus began a trademark U.S. effort to win the hearts and minds of the skeptical and the outright opposed. It was based on a belief that’s been the undoing of centuries of rulers: that “the masses” can be swayed by the right combination of propaganda, threats, repression, and fear.
The Americans had lost Vietnamese hearts and minds before most of them had even arrived. The 1954 Geneva accords partitioned Vietnam at roughly the 17th parallel and provided for reunification after elections in 1956. The U.S. government realized that communist Ho Chi Minh, a popular hero for his leadership of the resistance against the Japanese in World War II and the French afterwards, would easily win. The promised elections were not held.
That decision kneecapped the next 19 years of U.S. “saving democracy” propaganda. Even when a government controls the precious narrative, actions speak louder than words; hypocrisy’s stench overwhelms the honeyed propaganda. The man on the street, publicly lauded but privately disparaged by the ruling class, realizes the truth and doesn’t forget it.
Back home, the U.S. government has been losing hearts and minds for decades. The show-trial verdict against Donald Trump will push more people into the ranks of the permanently disillusioned, and that group already numbers in the tens of millions.
The almost automatic faith the government enjoyed through the Depression, World War II, and the years that followed suffered its first big hit with the Kennedy assassination and the Warren Commission whitewash. The Vietnam War took its toll, exacerbated by the draft and the treatment of returning soldiers.
Since Vietnam, the government and the ruling class have destroyed sentient Americans’ belief in their probity and effectiveness. Watergate, abandonment of the gold standard, double-digit inflation, Iran-Contra, serial financial crises, the Clintons’ scandals, the dot-com bust, 9/11 and the string of disastrous Middle East interventions it kicked off, the Patriot Act, the housing bust, too big to fail, Snowden’s revelations, and the rancid legislative maneuvers used to sneak through Obamacare set the table for Trump in 2016. His election kicked the lose-hearts-and-minds project into overdrive.
In their vicious arrogance and myopic stupidity, the regime and its media minions didn’t grasp that Trump rode a wave of those who treat anything they condemn as an endorsement and reject anything they endorse. “Deplorables” became a badge of honor. (Now another has been bestowed—“convicted felon”—already gracing T-shirts, baseball hats, banners, and memes.) Trump’s election was the Lexington moment for a Revolution that had already been effected in “the Minds of the People.” The regime recognized its significance before the revolutionaries did and even before Trump took office set out to destroy him.
Soviet secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria reportedly said, “Give me the man and I will give you the case against him.” The regime had its man, and they tried to build case after case against him. Mueller and Russiagate came up empty, as did two impeachment efforts. Ultimately, they employed another Soviet stratagem—an obviously rigged election—to at least temporarily vanquish Trump. With the January 6 persecutions, they went after both Trump and his supporters.
Trump is a Bobo doll and he’s popped back up to a sizable and undoubtedly understated lead in this year’s election polls, aided by the repeated blunders of the most inept administration in history. Even Biden’s media minions haven’t been much help. Like the regime’s, their credibility is gone.
The only ones who still believe are the village idiots. The regime has waged lawfare against Trump with about the same success as its Ukrainian proxies have had against Russia. Smirking Joe Biden and regime toadies should enjoy the verdict and sentencing, it’s liable to be their Kherson moment (one of the few battles Ukraine won).
Trump may well win this election from a jail cell. His campaign donations are overloading his website and there are reports he’s raised $200 million since the verdict. It’s no longer just Trump supporters versus never-Trump Republicans and Democrats. It’s fair play and elementary justice versus tyrannical law and rank injustice, amplified by that inner scream of outrage every decent human being feels when confronted by manifest evil. Millions are asking themselves: who’s next? We’re all surveilled 24/7, and when law is a charade, as Beria noted, anyone can be persecuted.
Speaking of the election, will the Democrats steal this one, too? In their all-consuming quest for power, unchecked by any consideration of morality, they’ll certainly try. They may succeed. If they don’t, there will be widespread rioting. If they do, there won’t be, but the ranks of those who have concluded that the system is irretrievably corrupt and beyond repair will swell. If the Democrats conclude they can’t steal the election, that Trump’s support is too overwhelming, we may face a “national emergency” that will prevent it. The deadly germ thing won’t work a second time, but perhaps nuclear war with Russia. Anything to hold on to power.
It’s a sign of pervasive cynicism that “Uniparty” and “Deep State” have become commonly used terms. The permanently disillusioned and cynical are a multitude, and many of them—seeing what’s coming—have decided to “let it burn.” How large is the subset whose hearts and minds have moved to outright opposition to the regime—hang the consequences—or will do so when the time is right? No one knows, there are no announcements on the Internet, but it grows larger by the hour.
Revolutionaries have the debt’s compounding interest working in their favor. The financial crisis now underway will effloresce with its attendant impoverishment and bankruptcy. Those who had too much to lose to revolt will suddenly have nothing to lose but their chains. That’s when the revolution that is already in “the Minds of the People” is most likely to go kinetic.
The regime’s dependence on fiat debt renders it a toilet-paper tiger. Revolutionaries will go to school on both guerrilla warfare and modern war as waged by the Russians in Ukraine. The U.S. military has lost repeatedly to guerrillas who have not had the firepower, resources, or expertise that American insurgents will have. For leadership, the revolutionary force will draw on active and retired military who take their oaths seriously and have experience in insurgent warfare.
Ukraine is demonstrating that modern war is not just waged on battlefields, but in cyberspace, across electronic command and control systems, and against civilian infrastructure. Even on the battlefield, UAVs are reshaping combat as $500 drones take out $10 million dollar tanks. Robots will soon be another disruptive force. America has more than its share of hackers, electronics experts, technical adepts who can put together drones and robots, and other revolutionaries who will wage war on the government in new and imaginative ways. A society as complex and interlinked as ours, ruled by a slow and stupid government, has innumerable pressure points.
The regime will have the support of its dependents, but those net drains will be unsupportable ballast, jettisoned under severe financial stress. The regime has lost the hearts and minds that matter; the Revolution has been effected. It will have the overt or covert support of millions. The regime is toast.
Knowing the sequences of events as provided by history are a strong indication of what is going to happen. The truth is ‘everyone has skin in the game’, the disruption will be beyond imagination. Ride it out the best you can, we were made for time’s such as these!
You are correct, everyone has and has always had skin in the game. You can be cynical if you like (not you or anyone in particular, just a general statement) and say “vote harder” or whatever the platitude of the day is. But ignoring politics and choosing to not participate (not even sure what that means, how do you not participate in society) doesn’t insulate you from the consequences of those politics. Eventually you have to actually do something if you want change.
There are quite a few old quotes on the matter, but I think the one most appropriate here is from Plato: “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”

If so, I pretty much agree, but the believers aren’t idiots, just ordinary people trying to go about their normal lives, often having very different outlooks on reality.
It’s the people who still believe in the idea of America and the ideals that supported the Revolution whose faith is worth sharing, and people can be found on both “sides” who share those ideals..
How is that really possible ? For if they believed in the ideals that supported the revolution there wouldn’t be opposition .
People differ on the methods they think must be used to achieve those ideals. They also differ on the meaning of things like liberty and equality and justice.

Village idiots indeed…..Karl Denninger was recently writing about the precipitous drop in IQ for the US and many Western countries and how this affects the ability for a society to maintain critical infrastructure and thus a high standard of living. Average IQ has dropped 3 or 4 points which doesn’t seem like much, but it is enough to move us from true 1st world status in terms of brainpower (think Germany or France) to more of a 2nd tiered status (e.g. Spain/Portugal) where things are still fairly modern but don’t always work well.

Answer:
Preterism is the view that the prophecies concerning destruction, especially those found in Revelation were fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem. There are variations of the belief, as you would expect when men are involved. Some take the extreme position that all prophesy has been fulfilled. The majority see the prophecies concerning the judgment and heaven are still in the future, but rest have been fulfilled. A few are only interested in Revelation itself and see it as mostly a discussion concerning the destruction of Jerusalem.
Futurism is the view that none of the prophecies concerning destruction have been fulfilled yet. Everything is seen as pointing to some distant future time just before Jesus returns. Thus Revelation is seen a warning whose time will come but hasn’t been reached yet. Futurism’s adherents also display wide variations in their beliefs. Premillennialism is actually a form of futurism.
Continuous Historicism is the view that Revelation foretells the history of the church from the time of John to the second coming of Jesus. Various events through history are argued to match certain prophecies in Revelation. Thus the claim is that John spoke of the rise of the Roman Catholic church and the papacy, the rise of the Muslim religion, the reformation and even major wars.
Philosophical doesn’t see specific events being foretold in Revelation, but a general story of the war between good and evil.
Historical sees Revelation speaking of specific events in history, though not necessarily the fall of Jerusalem, relevant to the people to whom the book was written. In other words, it takes place in a specific timeframe that is within the lives of the audience Revelation was intended. They find that we who come later can learn the lessons from what happened to apply to our own lives since history tends to repeat itself, just as we can turn to the pages of the Old Testament and learn lessons from what happened then.
Advocates of each position claim that their view has been always held by Christians. They will pull quotes from early Christian writings because the beliefs are general enough that you can find in almost anyone’s writings something to support your view. What you won’t find is a detailed advocation of one particular view.
It is true that advocacy of preterism and futurism was championed by Jesuits in their early days. During the reformation, it was popular to pin the Roman Catholic church with the label of the great harlot. Whether the Jesuits actually developed these ideas or found a solution by advocating the ideas, I can’t say for certain. What we do know is that several Jesuit books are the first detailed arguments for both Futurism and Preterism.
Futurism arose first. Francisco Ribera, a Jesuit theologian, published a book on Revelation in 1590 called In Sacrum Beati Ioannis Apostoli, & Evangelistiae Apocalypsin Commentarij. By putting everything in the distant future, then obviously the Roman Catholic Church can’t be the bad guy. Robert Bellarmine, a Jesuit apologist, also took the futurist view in his work, Polemic Lectures Concerning the Disputed Points of the Christian Belief Against the Heretics of This Time. It was published somewhere between 1581 and 1593.
Futurism “argues that Revelation looks beyond the first century to the period immediately before the end times. Thus the book was not written for those who received it, but for those living much later. Jesuit scholars after the Reformation refined this approach to prove that current attempts to identify the Pope as the Antichrist could not possibly be true since the Antichrist will not be revealed until far into the future, just before the Parousia [the Second Coming].” [Jerry L. Walls, The Oxford Handbook of Eschatology, 2007].
But the Catholic church is a large organization and other Jesuits advocated the preterits view. If everything happened before the Catholic church developed, then it can’t be the bad guy. Luis De Alcazar wrote a commentary, published in 1614, called Investigation of the Hidden Sense of the Apocalypse where he claimed that every prophecy was fulfilled in the early years after Christ.
Preterism “is said to have been first promulgated in anything like completeness by the Jesuit Alcasar, in his Vestigatio Arcani Sensus in Apocalypsi (1614). Very nearly, the same plan was adopted by Grotius. The next great name among this school of interpreters is that of Bossuet the great antagonist of Protestantism.” [Henry Alford, The New Testament for English Readers, 1872].
Both Futurism and Preterism can be shown to be false. Like most concepts, there are grains of truth within the systems, but overall the systems of belief are not correct”.

Why would that be so?

I believe the Historic interpretation of prophecy is correct and backed it up by why I believe PRETERISM AND FUTUREISM are both false and exactly who started them, why, where, when, and how…with a supportive (massive) website with many short and to the point vids, if you are interested in diving into the comparison of the three?

We’re apparently going to have to just agree to disagree. We are so close to my belief in what scripture alone basically teaches coming to pass I’m just have to let it play out on it’s own and decide from there.
I believe the biblical timeline for the second coming of Jesus is 2000 years from His crucifixion due to the Prophet Hosea and not current world events.
I believe believe the current world events support the 2000 year timetable.
I’m not able to believe Daniel 9 was falsified centuries ago and God just let it slip through.

I am convinced of what is below…
I have posted the King James 1885 REVISED Bible on Daniel 9:27 two word changes multiple times…turning Christ into the Anti-Christ…there are many books on it…and I have gone back to the Greek and Hebrew. This translation created the window for many of the Futurist prophecy deceptions. They are verified as being changed by Sir Anderson in the 1885 REVISED KING JAMES BIBLE…and that most translations used that change from that point on…Anderson was in it with Darby and Scofield…and then Scofield worked the Pre-trib deception into the 1909 study notes of his infamous first translation, then furthered his deceptions in his second translation, and then the Futurist’s deceptions were off to the American races!
You can investigate these individuals interconnected life’s and see the connections.
I was taught it for 15 years…and it took me five years of deep dives to prove to myself what I wrote above.

Petro dollar didn’t shift ‘reserve currency’ to the USD. That happened decades before. And it didn’t accelerate international reserve accumulation of dollars, either. That percentage didn’t really shoot up until the 1990s and 2000s. USD reserves by countries is so unprecedentedly large today that it could be cut in half and it would still comprise a larger share of international reserves than the pound sterling had at the height of the British empire.
If you’re talking purchasing power, that’s about individuals, not governments. The vast majority of currency unit decisions are made by rich individuals and transnational corporations. There isn’t any BRICS+ currency today or anywhere on the horizon that rich people would prefer to deal in. China is an authoritarian hellscape for capital. And until the link is broken, it’s linked to the USD anyway.
