International Friendship Day will be celebrated today, July 30.
To mark it, Statista’s Anna Fleck looks at data from a Statista Consumer Insights survey to see where “socializing” is most often considered a hobby in different countries around the world.
As the following chart shows, Germans, and to a slightly lesser extent the Danish and Spanish, are particularly likely to include spending time with others as one of their main personal pastimes.

By contrast, respondents in the United States and in urban India were far less likely to consider socializing as one of their top hobbies, with only around one in four picking the option.
In the U.S., just some of the hobbies which were selected by a higher share of people included cooking and baking (40 percent of respondents), reading (36 percent), pets (34 percent), video gaming (33 percent) and outdoor activities (31 percent).
In the U.S. at least, a slightly higher share of women said socializing was one of their hobbies (27 percent) versus men (23 percent).
It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Please consider contributing an amount commensurate to the value that you receive from this site and community, or even by becoming a sustaining supporter through periodic contributions. My response to this study.
I want to fight apathy or not.
Am I ambivalent? Maybe.
The best way to serve GOD is to serve your fellow man……Americans are some pretty “horrible”Christians against that standard!
When everything in life is MADE political separatism is the result and the intent!
Want to know who came up with the idea of NEVER discissuing three things in polite company??…….
Sex
Politics
Religion
The Left!,they found out real quick average Joe found their ideas RIDICULOUS!!!
Didn’t shut leftists up,but polite people who don’t wish to offend…..everybody just wants to get along…..right??……
Here we are……can’t talk about ANYTHING!…..folks are polarized because they want to be……
I enjoy being social, just not with the people I run into.
Or, I like being social with cats and dogs, but not people.
I’m very comfortable with being a misanthrope.
Daniel Plainview summed it up quite well…………..”You see…..I dont like most people” !
Exactly. Talking to a npc is a waste of time.
And The Lumpen came to love their LOCKDOWNS.
Being antisocial can also be most enjoyable past-time. It is a self-reinforcing condition for the practitioner. Plus video games, Tel Avision and Netflicks make for a bountiful life.
I found not wearing a mask during the Convid Hoax kept most people away from me. The only ones who approached were also unmasked, so I met some fellow travelers.
That’s about the perfect ratio of all the “stupid’s” out there. I don’t waste my time on them.
When the vast majority of people out there are stupid, uninformed sheep, it’s more enjoyable to not be social than to socialize and get aggravated.
I play this when people visit.
Wow, that’s really appropriate to the topic, Ginger.
(Auntie wonders; what kind of refreshments go with that sort of musical ambiance? )
Hard to relate to sheeple. My best friends (my dogs) have more common sense!
Ethnic diversity destroys social cohesion.
Most TBP regular’s would be a pleasure to talk to as they are well informed. When I walk around the neighborhood, I chat with everyone. The trouble is they are brain dead mainstream media watchers. I keep telling them mainstream news is 100% propaganda. But they keep on watching. The masses also don’t read books. Most years, I read at least a 100 books. Many just for fun. But I always have at least one serious book I am reading on.
I wanna be one of GNL’s friends.
Love ya GNL. 😉
I am asocial, not to be confused with Antisocial. I prefer to read and/or be outside in nature, by myself. Something reinforces this every single day.
