SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Heaven has once again helped us to have the Sunday worshiping at your gents well prepared alter of all the fabulous offerings.
Repeating again that IMHO, the symphony orchestra is one of the most marvelous institutions on the planet. Billions of dollars for the venues around the world for them to perform in, more billions for all the fine instruments, and with the efforts of all the talented musicians LONG hours practicing for the performances.
We get to savor all this for a few pennies of electricity every Sunday!

Submittal.
Mozart’s Flute and Harp concerto. Lovely piece 30 minutes.
Usually, the poor harp instruments are sitting in the back corner of the orchestra unused,
so this tour de force is enchanting.

Dobrinka Tabakova is a young composer born in Bulgaria in 1980.

I first encountered her in 2013 when her album ‘String Paths’ was released on ECM Records — an excellent German record label.

Here is the 3d selection from that album — ‘Longing’ … which has special and very personal implications in my life about an extraordinary woman who shared her heart with me for more than 5 1/2 years … ‘longing’ — that sublime pain of separation from our Beloved …

This is Yngwie Malmsteen, a rocker who just shreds his guitar. I am aware that rock is verboten. BUT … he’s playing with the New Japan Philharmonic! I hope this doesn’t cause our beloved Music Mafia heads to explode. 🙂

BTW, your selections this week were all breathtaking.
