One picture has Admin, Avalon and my sister from the Ocean Drive bar in Sea Isle City, in 1988.
Buds with buds?
Why would you look at the beer, when Avalon is RIGHT THERE???
I always did enjoy going to the beach.
Cars used to be colorful. Had to wait “only” 4 mos. to get my 2022 Tundra. Wanted dark red, sorry, all we are getting within that time frame is silver.
My 2023 Corvette order started in May, 2021, when I got on the waiting list at the 3rd largest Corvette dealership in the country. Finally in June of this year my “allocation” number came up but the specs I wanted were on constraint. At last in August, my order was accepted by the Bowling Green Assembly Plant where Corvettes are made and my car was built on October 4 (two days ago). Hope to pick it up next week.
I could have got one immediately back in 2021, but the additional dealer markups were $15-25k. No thanks…waited to buy at MSRP.
I don’t have pics, but I lived across the street from my high school. There was a rule one had to be 1 block away to smoke, so most kids went to a street that was technically one block away, but only was about 100 ft away on a street called Fernwood since the entire block was only two houses long. I however got to smoke on my front lawn even closer and there was nothing the Nazi smoking police Dean could do since my parents weren’t ever home then.
The burn outs were always across the street
All the 50-70s cars were something special to see and enjoy every year; music of every type was to enjoy, life was pretty good. Then the Liberals took over and everything and all the trends have been noticeably negative since. The Pendulum swinging to the Left has been a Wrecking Ball. All the tables are now covered with vomit, ignorant perverts and stupid women rule over them and destroy the traditional paths, they call evil good and good evil, liberals are wise in their own eyes, it is a majority of people of no understanding, how long shall the wicked rule oh Lord; He will punish the wicked inhabitants of the Earth (Rev 6) . Who shall teach knowledge; precept upon precept, line by line? Ref Is 53 et all. Vote the democrats out 8Nov; the Republicans have already entered 14 Bills for Impeachments and need our votes.
Have you ever had to use turpentine to scrape off an eighth inch of hair spray from the inside of the moonroof on your girlfriends car?
I have.
Don’t forget about Cheryl, y’all.
I had this poster on my bedroom wall!
Love Jaclyn Smith.
Windmill cookies & milk, please, if I can’t have her.
The under-the dash .45 player is interesting. An early job I had in lete high school was a car audio installer circa 1977.
We sold & installed u/d cassette players and power booster equalizers, with 4 Jentzen speakers. Two in the doors, and 2 on the back deck.
We’d rock the tunes at volume 9 or 10 on hot Summer days with the windows down
Boston, The Who, & more.
Memories!!
Yep, Jaclyn, a timeless Beauty. She outshined the others.
Get very excited if you find that wheat penny. It was only made in 1909 and is very valuable.
Sorry Mr. Blow, wrong. I have a collection of pennies that goes back to the 1800’s. But ya, always fun to find a blast from the past, like a mercury head dime or a wheat back. Never yet come across a buffalo nickle in the wild.
Peace, L.
I had a friend who would go to every bank in town and buy up all their $1.00 coins, trolling for pre 1964 coins. Then he’d sell all the non silver ones back to the bank. Problem was…all the tellers caught on and no more silver coins made it his way after that.
1909 S VDB Lincoln cent can bring $1K – $5K depending on condition.
My grandfather supposedly found one in his pocket change. I got his collection when he died but haven’t found it yet as I try to inventory the coins.
Was always looking for one of those as a kid, TenPat.
I had an older brother who installed in me an interest and appreciation for coins.
It is still with me today.
Frequently gift out silver eagles to the kids at holidays, graduations, & birthdays.
Beautiful coin.
Might be very valuable if hyperinflation hits..
It’s a potential storm cloud on the horizon, if they don’t stop the presses.
Cheers.
Suds – My Uncle was a coin collector and one Christmas gave the blue coin collecting books to all the nephews and nieces. Granddad had been putting his spare change into tin cans with lids for years and led us all to his huge dining room table and started dumping tins of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in piles for us to fill our books.
He made my Uncle sit and watch as we sifted through all the coins before he would let him in to look for the rare ones. Nobody found one of the 1909S coins, but we all got our books mostly filled from his collection. He also had Indian Heads, Buffaloes, Halves and Dollars and this was when the wheat penny was still being made. Wish I had just one of those tin cans today.
I still collect coins and give uncirculated sets to all the grandkids and greats each Christmas. They also get a Silver Eagle in their birth year.
Yes! Did you have the silver pennies from ’43, when the Gov was hoarding copper for the war?
I remember the blue books well…
How about paper Silver Certificate dollars?
I actually bought at a coin shop and old Tony Jack bill that is labeled a gold certificate.
I’d have to find it, for the print year.
Obviously way before tricky Dick closed the window in ’74.
Also have a 1 Trillion dollar note from Zimbabwe, but nothing from the Wiemar Republic..
Shame that our money men ignore historys lessons.
The 1909 with the VDB initials is very rare indeed!
Loved the Hanes ad.
Knew an adult in the 70s who had one of those “unfriended” pictures on his office credenza (his DIL).
Honestly never heard of the smoking sections till today.
You probably knew it by another name: “The Boy’s Room”.
At my high school in the 80s, all the smokers went to the sidewalk in front of the school to light up. I’m pretty sure there was a smoking room in the teachers’ lounge.
1958, 1959, & 1960 Chevy Impala.
I still look at the Change a Cashier gives me in case there is a Wheat Penny in it.
Hair Metal!!
My parents had that exact same black 1960 Chevy Impala that was stolen when I was a kid.
I just noticed the “Be a Mind Sticker” ad for Tab. We need more ads like that these days. Or maybe “Don’t be disgusting like Lizzo. Have a Diet Rite”.
Bring back smoking. Those soulless, evil, uptight boomers took a pleasurable pastime away because they want to live forever young. People knew the risks of smoking and did it anyway. That’s called freedom. We’d all be less uptight and thinner if we took a good drag every now and then.
I remember restaurants having smoking sections all the way into the mid-90s before the bans started. If you went to a bar, you were almost required to light up a cig. Going to dive bars now without the aroma of cigarettes and ash trays just isn’t the same.
I’ve been smoking cigars for over twenty years now. I never smoked cigarettes until a couple of years ago. I was curious and tried a friend’s Marlboro. I smoked it like a cigar, never inhaled. Now I smoke American Spirit cigs along with my cigars. It’s a nice change of pace, and since cigars are getting more and more expensive, I can make my cigars last longer. Not that cigs are cheaper, the American Spirits are $12-13 a pack here in CA. Marlboros are around $10. Outrageous.
And by the way, living in the 80s was just as awesome as those pictures show. I know, I lived it. Best time of my life.
