Dobie Gillis. Maynard G. Krebbs was my role model growing up.
If Maynard G. Krebbs was your role model, should you grow up?
Didn’t the “G” stand for William?
WORK!!!!
Too many good memories in so many funny shows full of such talent!
Before it got corrupted by the intelligentsia and other unsavory elements.
If it was the last show I would ever be able to watch it would be one of Lucy and Ethel’s wild and crazy schemes to win a prize or sneak into Ricky’s show. I choose to die laughing.
It would be a toss-up between Maverick and Rawhide.
Leave it to Beaver.
The greatest peril to the kids back then was Eddie Haskell.
Ward worked 8-5, owned a mansion, June stayed at home and kept house and everyone was White.
Ward, aren’t you being kinda hard the Beaver?
Preach Joe!!!
Rollin Rollin Rollin
Keep them Dogies Rollin
No need to Understand Em
Just Round em Rope em Brand em.
RawhIde!
Any show featuring George Takei.
Smothers Brothers
The Who on Smothers Brothers
Green Acres. Lisa at driving school “What’s the Pernerndel?” She was looking down the steering wheel column.
P-R-N-D-L.
Plus, loved Mr Haney.
I loved how Lisa regularly broke the 4th wall. The credits would be rolling and she’d point to them and say “Who’s dat?”
I loved Mr. Haney too. No homo.
I watched all the reruns a couple years ago on some streaming channel, or thought I did. I was really looking forward to the one where Lisa gets a job as a short-order cook and makes her ‘hotscakes’ by pouring out a rectangle of batter, then cutting out the hotscakes with a pot lid. A truck driver needing a head gasket and unable to chew his hotscake realizes the leftover rectangle with four holes will be perfect to fix his truck.
Never got to see that one for some reason. But so many laughs. Nothing like it now
Almost forgot the ewpisodwe where Eb wanted to go to college at MIT – Middle Indiana Tonsorial.
In the same one, Fred told Oliver that Arnold Ziffel was going to Stanford. Arnold walks in wearing a red & white frosh beanie.
Star Trek. Hottest women ever, for a 10 year old.
Daniel Boone was a man
yes a big man
but the bear was bigger so he ran like a niger up a tree
Childhood was great
Also lead to one of the great moments on Johnny Carson, I didn’t know you were jewish
Get Smart. Many of the inventions on that show are reality now.
Another good one, Bay!!!
Propaganda that secrecy is in any way justified in a representative government.
I Dream of Genie, Munsters, Gunsmoke, Dick van Dyke, etc.
Yes, I Dream of Jeannie (notice the spelling) was great.
Laugh In
Sock-it-to-me!
Not a bad job to aspire to….painter that is.
Goldie was hot.
Goldie Hawn 😛
Adam-12 is great and Andy Griffin show because of Don Knots, comic genius. Gilligan’s Was strong too. Ever since MeTv came on the air it’s the only shows we watch. Even got my 10 year old locked in, she loves it.
Gunsmoke
Bonanza
Have Gun Will Travel
Lost In Space
Star Trek
Mr Rogers
Even when I was a kid, I thought he was kinda creepy. He came on before Bozo the Clown so I would catch the end of the show. Bozo was pretty creepy too.
Soupy Sales
F Troop. One of the best ever.
It only ran for two seasons, what a shame. Also, that Blonde was only 16 when they started filming. When they found out they decided to keep her. The best episode was “Don’t talk to me.” There’s a part (funniest) of that episode on YouTube.
Mission Impossible, the first three seasons with Barbara Bain and Martin Landau! And Gerry Andersons “Thunderbirds” ” Fireball XL5″ and “Captain Scarlet”.
Martin Landau was IMHO an under-appreciated actor.
Some of his late-career work (e.g. as Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood”) was amazing.
Yeah, he was (((something))).
Maverick, with James Garner…
Rod Serling – Twilight Zone
Batman- Corny as hell. That’s what made good.
The Lone Ranger
Gun Smoke
Bonanza
Hawaii Five-O – “Book um Dano”
Last but not least – The Wild Wild West (My all time favorite)
The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an enemy Indian War Party. The Chief proclaims, “I will kill you in three days. But you are a great warrior so I will grant you a last request.
The Lone Ranger responds, “I’d like to speak to my horse.” So, the Lone Ranger whispers in
Silver’s ear, and the horse gallops away. Later that evening, Silver returns with
a sexy and naked blond on his back. The Chief takes the woman to his tent and has his way with her. The Chief is so happy he tells the Lone Ranger he will get one more request.
The Lone Ranger responds, “I’d like to speak to my horse.” So, the Lone Ranger whispers in
Silver’s ear, and once again the horse gallops away. Later that evening, Silver returns with
an even sexier and naked redhead on his back. The Chief takes the woman to his tent and has his way with her. The Chief is so happy he tells the Lone Ranger he will get one final request.
The Lone Ranger responds, “I’d like to speak to my horse, …. alone.” The Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and screams, “Read my lips! I said ‘Bring me a POSSE!!”
Thanks Kimosabi,
I needed a good laugh
Classic, thanks for the reminder!
I don’t get it … but I laughed to be polite …
😉
😂 Featuring Kam Fong AS Chin Ho…Kelly
I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Gilligan’s Island
Twilight Zone – Followed by Sea Hunt, Outer Limits, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Batman, Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
It would have to be a tie between The Andy Griffith Show and The Beverly Hillbillies.
Maverick, Star Trek, Mannix, Mr Ed
I liked the Wild, Wild West. Was that 60’s? The Avengers was pretty good for Brits.
Wild West – 1965 to 1969
CBS went full “metro” at the end of that season. Pat Buttram (Mr Haney) commented that “they (CBS) cancelled every show with a tree in it”.
WWW was the 4th rated show in 69. Go figure that.
Every
Single
Time
So many 60’s and 70s were simply great, hard to choose a favorite. So, I’m picking 5 shows I pretty much hated.
—– My Mother The Car …. the worst premise in the history of television
—–Mr. Ed …. followed by this idiotic show (and I love horses!)
—–The Flying Nun ….. a flying Katlick woman? gimme a friggin break
—–Lost In Space …. horrible plot lines, despicable or moronic characters, and the worst possible “special effects”
—–Hogans Heroes …. not a big fan of mocking Germans. And no one gave a shit that several characters playing dumbfuk Nazis were actually Joos??
=======
OTOH, this show was so stupid I loved it —> F-Troop
Beverly Hillbillies
Double naught Jethro.
Gunsmoke, Bewitched, and many listed here.
McHales Navy, Sgt Bilko, Rifleman, Johnny Yuma
Flintstones and Jetsons
Oh soooo many. Star Trek. The Untouchables. Combat!
Rat Patrol.
Ripcord.
Man from Uncle.
The Outer Limits.
Alas, the so-called “Rural Purge” of many of the Networks (nitwits?).
My last TV was a Sony that had a 6″ dia. CRT (cathode ray tube, nothing raciss here, and I wouldn’t give a shit if it were). All it cost me a was a bit of aluminum foil for the single telescoping antenna and however many electrons it required to power the little beast. As it was a cast-off, the initial investment was next to nil.
McCloud could be seen as a re-run at 11.00pm, the episode ended at midnight. That was about the only “show” I ever watched since midnight was end-of-day for me. This was in the early 1980s and there were so many commercials, that the show was barely watchable. By the time the episode continued, I had forgotten of what had happened just before the commercial. There were many episodes that I never saw the end of because I fell asleep during the commercials.
The brightness on that poor little TV began to dim; the brightness adj. was of no avail. It became un-viewable at all, “screen fade to black”, so I trashed it. “Now, I could never be sure, but I thought that I heard the sound of taps being played. Gently.”
In this age I know many that are willing to part with $150/mo. or more for today’s abhorrent drek some call programing.
The Andy Griffith Show, of course. Only the black-and-whites. Just the finest writing and acting and filming. Incomparable to anything else.
This, in a field of 1960’s shows whose over-bubbling creativity arose at once. The genius of these writers, actors, directors, producers, set designers, casting directors, set designers, corporate sponsors… all these men and women tower unmatched!
I vote for Navy Log etc and would watch them again. I thought Amos & Andy were good.
Friday night at Grandpa’s – Rawhide, Gunsmoke and Hogan’s Heroes, not necessarily in that order. Grandpa had a bad time in WWII, t think that show helped out in some ways.
Nobody’s gonna mention Then Came Bronson?
Branded
Star Trek
Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Camp Runamuck
Mission Impossible, The Invaders, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Flipper, Ripcord, Star Trek, Sea Hunt, and lots more. TV today pales by comparison.
Pretty much my babysitter, so I went from one to the next as they appeared on the boob tube, well into the 70s.
I noticed that nobody mentioned The Flintstones, The Jetson’s, Johnny Quest, Petticoat Junction (the extension of Green Acres), The Outer Limits or the Ghost and Mrs. Muir.
Also missed – Family Affair, Daniel Boone, Hazel, My Three Sons, Room 222, and The Mod Squad. Of course maybe there is a good reason they were missed.
We catch a lot of them on MeTV, COZI, and others these days, but most just don’t age well.
The Outer Limits is a fave, decades later.
What a great escape from reality! Many of my favorites have been named, including Star Trek, Gilligan’s Island, Andy Griffith… can I sneak in one from the early 70’s….The Waltons 🙂
Twilight Zone
OOOH… good one. We have the entirety of OuterLimits and would love to get that set (old ones.)
By the way, this clown world is hilarity… Russia has banned Gummy Bears.
Take that all you ‘Murkan Gummi Bear makers!

Mags- Outer Limits told us point plank that we had lost control of our television, they weren’t kidding. 🙂
[spoiler title=” “]correct.
Night Gallery, a short lived series by Serling.
The Fugitive
Kung Fu with David Carradine … a western plus martial arts, what’s not to like? I think it only ran 1 or 2 seasons, and I really liked it.
Summary:
—- about 50 – 55 minutes of a meek and mild Carradine speaking wonderful Zen truths
—- last 5 minutes …. Carradine beats the living shit out of those who don’t “get it”
And isn’t that the essence of life today? You can talk talk talk yada yada to libtards until blue in the face. But, at the end of the day what is really required is to kick them in the fuck.
Stucky- Have you read the complete list of actors/celebrities/rich folks who have died by hanging from a door knob or closet pole? It is lengthy. and David Carradine was on the list. A Rothschild son and ex-wives were on the list also. The son would not live up to the family pledge to kill off the goy, so the story goes.
Kung Fu was 3 seasons from 72 to 75.
Toss-up between 3 very different shows:
Dick Van Dyke Show
Batman
The Munsters
Gunsmoke, the 30 minute black and white episodes were the best.
The Invaders…
The Beverly Hillbillies.
A memorable scene is when Jethro eats a sponge and states, “that mushroom was a bit chewy but it sure sopped up the gravy.”
Classic.
Tossup btwn Hogans Heroes and F-Troop, although Chief Wild Eagle with his bit about the origins of the Tribal Name was kinda the clincher: “Many moons ago, tribe leave Massachusetts because Pilgrims ruin neighborhood! Tribe travel west, over stream, over river, over mountain, over mountain, over river, over stream! Then come big day… tribe fall over cliff. That when Hekawi get name. Medicine man say to my ancestor, “I think we lost. Where the heck are we?”.
Between Wild Eagle and his deputy Crazy Cat, there is a lot of Yiddish Shtick about the “lost tribe” and such, reminiscent of the true thing in Blazing Saddles.
Other than that, I know Nothink!
Here in NH, our northernmost outpost of State Po-Po is Troop F, and ya better not call ’em F Troop…
The Prisoner – hit my weird button
Batman. Lost In Space.
dr who
There are so many good ones to choose from. For me, just to list the top 5:
Cheyenne (of course I’m biased because of my halfblood ancestry). However, I liked the mellow Marshal Clint Walker portrayed.
Addams Family. I looked forward to it every week and it was usually on just as we got home from grocery shopping.
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange portrayed her beautifully and she smoked cigars in real life). Oh, Blast! “Blast is not a woman’s word.”
The Smothers Brothers “Half A Comedy Hour”.
Outer Limits (I’ve been a Science Fiction fan since 2nd grade – which was now a few years ago).
Honorable mentions:
Maverick
The Name of the Game
The Untouchables
Topper
Bewitched
Family Affair
Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea (1st and 2nd seasons only – after that it got goofy)
Johnny Quest
Clutch Cargo
Space Angel
