I too thought that his speach was dicordant with what was going on in TX. This is a megalomaniac that thinks the soldiers are his to send off as cannon fodder, much like the military leaders, but here he has a disconnect with anything military.
It just shows what an empty suit trying to fill in for what is really lost in his belief system, cannot accomplish. I think we will see the breakdown of the party in power as time goes on.

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting
A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.

President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.
After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That's the least that should occur.
Did the president's team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on -- and the initial words coming out of their president's mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.
It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before. The New Jersey gubernatorial vote had already demonstrated that the president and his political team couldn't produce a winning outcome in a state very friendly to Democrats (and where the president won by 15 points one year ago). And now this? Congressional Democrats must wonder if a White House that has burdened them with a too-heavy policy agenda over the last year has a strong enough political operation to help push that agenda through.
If the president's communications apparatus can't inform -- and protect -- their boss during tense moments when the country needs to see a focused commander-in-chief and a compassionate head of state, it has disastrous consequences for that president's party and supporters.
All the president's men (and women) fell down on the job Thursday. And Democrats across the country have real reason to panic.

These kinds of things happen in a PC world that we live. We just happen to have a POS POTUS who could care less about the military or what happens on military bases. He does not care about the troops unless it is a photo op over dead flag draped caskets. keep looking out for the American Indian and Acorn and health care for the illegals and abortion rights and gay marriage...keep lookin out you worthless POS...

And don't forget, this will be used in some way to gain more control over guns. This administration has been pretty silent on the issue so far, as they know to much pressure there will make the 2010 elections even worse for them than they already will be.
Since I am soon going to be working on a military base, and civilians are not allowed to carry concealed weapons on base, the thought occurs that something like this can happen with no way to defend yourself, except to duck.
Hopefully this kind of thing does not become common. But with the outlook for the future, I'd venture get used to it! :-(

A COMPLETE LACK OF CONVICTION
For example, when he talks about his heart going out to the fallen and wounded ..... is he REALLY believable? Do you believe he means it. Really, means it? Look at his body language. Look at his eyes. Look at his posture. Listen to the inflection.
He is an empty shell reading from a teleprompter. He might as well be talking about the swine flu. He does not convey even the slightest conviction, or believe-ability.

Don't be so critical of the man because of an occasional lapse in a matter that you think should have been handled differently. President Obama is doing a good job in the face of most trying times. He's taken an aggresive foreign policy position, he supports America's traditional allies, and, like Franklin Roosevelt, Obama's trying to come up with something that works with the economy. almost certainly he'll succeed and before too long we'll be out of the hole that unregulated businessmen got us into.

Come on, critics, cut the President some slack. For all you know, his teleprompter may have been broken, thus rendering it totally impossible for Obama to hold forth in any way that would even approach an intelligent discussion of the events. There is ample precedent that without a teleprompter he flounders and stutters like a bumbling fool with no clue how to move forward with his remarks. So, please, at least give him the benefit of the doubt until all the facts are known.

Here is a President who has never had a real job in his life and has spent most of his career living on the public purse.
Unfortunately he is 99% hot air and 1% substance. That was clear from the time he started running in the primaries and then he gets elected President.
