President Trump Pardons Michael Flynn

Via ZeroHedge

Just minutes before the market closed on the day before Thanksgiving (typically one of the slowest, lowest-volume days of the year) John Solomon reported that President Trump has pardoned Michael Flynn, the man who briefly served as his national security advisor before being taken down (and then charged and convicted of lying to investigators) in an effort that some have described as a deep state-backed setup.

Trump just confirmed the reports, published minutes ago by John Solomon and Just the News, in a tweet.

Flynn was granted a full pardon by the president, who also commuted the sentence of former advisor Roger Stone back in July.

Already, Trump’s partisan opponents – including House Intelligence Committee head Adam Schiff, a longtime Trump critic – are lashing out at the president over the decision.

“Well, it would send a message that at least as far as President Trump is concerned, if you lie on his behalf, if you cover up for him, he will reward you, he will protect you, but only if he thinks it’s in his interest.”

“There are others that lied for him that he’s not going to extend that kind of service to,” Schiff added. “But it just frankly reflects so ill on our democracy, on the United States. Imagine what people around the world think when we have a president who’s acting like an organized crime figure.”

It’s a safe bet that somebody – probably James Comey – will compare Trump to a mafia boss, especially since Flynn’s pardon follows Trump’s rant during a hearing in PA today where Trump egged on Rudy Giuliani and the others who are trying to overturn PA’s presidential election result. A judge handed them a major court victory earlier.

Though Flynn pleaded guilty three years ago, his sentencing hadn’t yet been handed down as his legal team worked to dismiss the case, something that has become a cause celebre among conservatives.

Flynn initially pleaded guilty to charges of lying to investigators that were related to his conversations with a Russian diplomat. He was the only White House official to be convicted as part of the Mueller probe.

Responding to news of the pardon, Jonathan Turley (author of the essay hyperlinked above), said “The idea of Trump pardoning a former aide still sits badly with me. However, so does the conduct of his judge and the refusal to end this saga.”

While Sidney Powell battles on in her legal effort to overturn election results in several states, some pointed out that Flynn’s pardon is a ‘win’ for her.

Though it wasn’t the ‘kraken’ we had come to expect from Powell, for conservatives, it’s a pleasant reminder that – for now at least – Trump is still president.

He should pardon a bunch of serial killers on the condition that they have to stay in DC.

Whoever wrote this ‘article’ is so far off the mark on the events surrounding Flynn that it reeks of leftist partisanship. This is Zerohedge? My, how low they have fallen. It reads like spew from Media Matters or Politico.

Fact is, the DOJ dropped the charges against Flynn and the google-eyed scrum of a judge, Sullivan, refused to accept that fact and instead decided to continue to PROSECUTE Flynn even though there wasn’t a prosecutor pressing charges. Sullivan even went so far as to hire a lawyer to ACT as prosecutor. This farce was appealed and, somehow the appeals court said hey, go ahead and try Flynn even though there are no charges.
It got better since it was revealed (by Sidney Powell) that the FBI falsified information, especially one special agent by the name of Strzok:

The alteration in Strzok’s notes have already led to significant public confusion about a key aspect of the FBI’s investigation of Flynn. Strzok’s notes summarize a Jan. 5, 2017, Oval Office meeting at which President Barack Obama, FBI Director James Comey and other national security officials discussed Flynn’s contact with Russian officials. The document filed in court included a notation that indicated a date range of Jan. 4-5, 2017 — an addition that DOJ attributes to an inadvertently scanned sticky note

The other odd twist here is that it was VP Biden who suggested that Flynn be nailed using the Logan Act, and, it is ‘President Elect’ Biden who, despite claims to the contrary, has no official title of anything other that Mister, who recently broke the Logan Act when he met with foreign heads of state.

“Strzok’s notes indicate that Biden mentioned the Logan Act — a mostly defunct 18th-century law that criminalizes efforts by private citizens to conduct U.S. foreign policy. ”

No matter, but if Zerohedge wants to maintain a scintilla of believability then they need to quit with the downright misleading bullshit they’ve spewed here.

So what you are saying is that the American people are the enemy? He released documents and intel to US Citizens and last time I checked only half of them are the enemy right now. So maybe give him a half-pardon? Fuck it. Full pardon. Guy should have a monument erected for exposing the bullshit surveillance state. The fact that nothing has happened to any of the alphabets is what deserves capital prosecution.

My first thought as well.

I wonder what he will have to say?

It will be interesting to see how much time passes before his name pops up on the White House visitor’s log after 1/20.

Despite it being Zerohedge it was a shit piece, loading the burden on Flynn and utterly failing to suggest any of the official malfeasance.
Where is the original 302 that establishes what he said, or what they said he said?
Glosses over the utter corruption nightmare deep state praetorian guard the FBI has become, without flinching.
I hope Mars smiles on Flynn and Trump puts him somewhere he can burn some shit down.

I’ll bet Trump takes office in January and reappoints Flynn to his original job as national security advisor. General Flynn and his team ran the largest and most successful counterespionage operation in U.S. history.

Now Mr President there is at least one more pardon to be done. Julian Assange must be pardoned. The world has ignored his plight for too long. I really hope he does the right thing. (Also can you pardon someone on charges without yet being convicted? If so Kyle Rittenhouse should be next)

I’m somewhere between ROARING PISSED and completely disappointed in the decision to pardon him. He will forever be labeled as a man who lied to the FBI and to hell with his legacy. He lost EVERYTHING because those evil fucks needed him out of the way. I’m not a lawyer, thank God, but I believe he has given up any chance of recovering anything at this time. The pardon admits guilt! You can’t sue those fucks if they won, which the pardon acknowledges. I feel so depressed for what that man has gone thru and now has nothing left. I’m not sure how this affects his military retirement benefits. How sad.

Sullivan hoped he could drag this out long enough for a Biden DOJ to resurrect prosecution against LGen Flynn. I would have preferred that he would have finally declared the case closed, but the left never quits.
