Question of the Day: It’s not all bad…

I‘m getting tired of all the gloom and doom these days. With the supreme court of Canuckistan making it official to kinda sorta screw the pooch and with the real possibility of a criminal winning the election to the South I decided yesterday it was time to take stock. What’s good about the world?

Well, for starters I kinda like most places where there aren’t a lot of people.  So I’m giving a big thumbs to the places God made.

The big one of course is family. Which got me to thinking about kids. We like to “harsh” (I think that’s a word that kids use today) on millennials here but the truth is there are lots of good ones out there. I started to think about my kid’s friends and of the half dozen or so kids that each of my children hangs out with regularly. Truth be told there isn’t one in the bunch that I’d tell my kids to stay away from. In fact all of them are polite, well mannered, bright and decent human beings. I came home today and one of my son’s buddies was over and the two of them were jamming in the living room. Like the rest of them Hardeep always asks me how I am and addresses me as “Mr.” At 14 he is a bit of heavy metal prodigy and he and my son play together regularly. This is a bit of them playing together – a mix of Van Halen and stuff my son made up. They go back and forth so I can’t tell you which is which but when I hear and see stuff like this coming from nice young people I feel a little bit of hope.

At any rate – here’s my question. In spite of the constant degradation of civilization going on around us what in your estimation is still good about the world? I’m leading off with beautiful spaces and quality young people. Your turn.

I will also go with people.

Face it we are a lot like cockroaches. We have been decimated before and we survived. Not sure if the google-Darpa IA will agree though………

I am with you on both fronts, God’s handmade edens and young people. I am fortunate enough to work with millennials outdoors in a beautiful spot doing constructive things and it makes my days shine no matter what the weather.

And weather, that one is pretty cool too.

Family. Food. Books. Humor.

Can’t wait to see where this one goes-

Thanks Kokoda…lovely music…

and amiss all the bad news there is real life.
A simple life for those a bit older, work life behind
them, a rural location and, fewer people.

Regardless the devious plots to destroy humanity, from those
that believe they are special and entitled to rule…plus the
people where any excuse to blame others and live off the
labor of others…there is real life.

The question, Frances Marion, is a good one, and a good
day for reflection as well. So thanks.

susanna….yes, her music was just wonderful, BUT my point was the youth and their ability and the hope for the future. I have come across many vids of really young ones that are so mature and intelligent, where they speak in front of many and give truthful and commanding performances. I’ve seen this a number of times on Common Core (Communism), as an example.

A very good question, Francis.

How about little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow moving trains, and rain?

As soon as I saw your question, I thought of this song. Really. In other words, the simple things in life are still good …. like me grilling some bratwurst yesterday for mom and dad, and sipping a wonderful Wachsteiner beer on the patio.

@Stuck: Thanks for that, friend. It made my day a little happier for which I needed.

I’m in the process of digging my youngest daughter out of one more hole she dug for herself – which costs me money, time, pain, effort and worry and so little things meant a lot.

Thanks again..

You’re definitely on my short-list of TBPers I would love to meet someday, if it were possible.

Glad to be of service, especially to you.

The Northern Cascade Range in my front yard. The foothills of the Rockies are just to my east and the Blues are just south of here. The desert of flood carved channeled scab lands is to my west. My literal backyard is this:

Da Earf is magnificent. Even the most inhospitable places will knock you over with their beauty.

The sky both near and far will do the same:

Most of the creatures upon Da Earf are pretty damned cool:
